Artist Bio:
I was born and raised in Walla Walla, WAand have been living in the San Jose area for the past 30 years.
My painting career started somewhat late in life but the important point is that we recognize these creative opportunities when they arrive and act on them. The last 17 years are the ones I have dedicated to experiencing this new manifestation of myself.
Most of my painting has been with Group 315 in Campbell, CA., which has proved to be a great source of inspiration and education. Although I have no formal training, working with Benjamin Blake has been invaluable as he has edited my work which allows me to strengthen the technical parts of my painting.
Even though my work is often described as abstract I feel no real attachment to any specific area. I view myself more as a creationist, giving expression in a variety of styles.
A painting is complete when the viewer creates their own experience.
The statement by the artist
"The most important thing to state about my work is that it is almost entirely concerned with the act and process of painting itself. Manipulating and exploring the various qualities of the paint to create an image. The paint gives expression to internal feelings of forms, structure, and organizing power all else, including resultant evolving subject matter, mood, and so forth follow from this."
